Bush Reflections

“The tranquil feeling of being immersed in nature and exploring secluded places are recurring themes in my work. From the plants and trees to the rivers and valleys, I feel an intangible pull to create about them and to deepen my connection to the landscape through paint. Bush Reflections is an homage to these places and a quiet reflection on the Australian landscape before I move overseas.
With a combined studio and En plein air practice, experiencing places in person and making works on location is essential to my process. Each artwork begins as I enter a landscape, unraveling in my sketchbook as graphite marks or sweeps of watercolour. For this new body of work, I have continued my love for watercolour painting and shared an emerging interest in oils. With both mediums, I can explore many possibilities, diving deeper into the landscape through soft washes and thick curls of paint. “
